Lori Tryon is the founder of Unbound Pathways, educational consultant, advocate, and executive functioning coach with more than 30 years of experience in education and special education. Throughout her career, she has served as a special education teacher, assistant principal, special education director, and educational consultant. These varied roles have given Lori a deep understanding of both the school system and the experiences of students and families navigating it.

Lori holds a master’s degree in School Administration and a North Carolina teaching license in Special Education: General Curriculum K–12. She supports families with IEPs, Section 504 Plans, eligibility and reevaluation decisions, educational records, school meetings, and postsecondary transition planning. She also works directly with students to strengthen executive functioning skills such as organization, planning, task initiation, time management, self-advocacy, and study strategies.

Lori believes meaningful support begins with understanding the whole student—their strengths, needs, goals, learning profile, and individual way of experiencing the world. Her approach is collaborative, practical, and strengths-based. She helps families understand their options, prepare for important decisions, and communicate confidently with school teams. When working with students, she focuses not only on immediate academic needs but also on building the skills, confidence, and independence they can carry into adulthood.

Lori founded Unbound Pathways with a simple but powerful belief: There is more than one way forward. Whether a family needs help navigating the special education process, a student needs individualized learning support, or a young person is preparing for life after high school, Lori helps identify a path that is responsive, realistic, and uniquely their own.
